FRANCIS MERENDA AWARD.

Fran Merenda was the starting halfback on the 1945 State Championship Team. He was the second leading scorer on that very same team, on Dennis Gildea called "My Best Ever". A trip to NY and Washington ensued.

He volunteered for the Navy's Submarine Unit and played football for the Great Lakes Navy Base. He also boxed there.

After graduating from Northeastern where he played football on year, he worked at M.I.T's Draper Lab for Years. For years he was secretary of the E Club.

His signature football move was watching all games from goal posts to goal posts. He enjoyed watching games there, rather than the 50 yard line.
